Fischer titrators Econix-Expert are used for the quantitative determination of water in oil, petroleum products, natural gas, organic solvents, transformer oils, etc. GOST 24614, EN ISO 12937 (IP No. 438/01), GOST 24870, etc. The operation of the titrators is based on the Karl Fischer reaction, which consists in the quantitative interaction in the presence of water of iodine and sulfur dioxide in a methanol-pyridine solution (Fischer reagent) with a high rate constant. After the water is exhausted, the reaction stops, and an increase in iodine concentration is detected by a bi-potentiometric or bi-amperometric indicator system.
